Library staffing has decreased in recent years, meaning that staff are unable to spend as much time and effort recommending books to service users. Many libraries are becoming digital hubs, however, with the exception of online libraries, book collections are generally not included in this digital levelling up.
This project aims to create a library-based physical AI agent that recommends books based on a user’s preferences, mood, interests, and reading habits. Added functionality may include the integration of the AI agent with a library website, in order to let users know if a book is in stock, and to order that book for the user.
This project will utilise Python, machine learning libraries, and Raspberry Pi hardware to create an interactive AI bot. The project also involves surveying users and analysing their responses.
