In recent years, non-photorealistic rendering (NPR) has gained significant traction in the gaming industry, with anime-style aesthetics becoming increasingly prominent in commercial titles. However, implementing high-quality NPR remains challenging for small and medium-sized development teams due to limited technical resources and the absence of standardized evaluation methodologies. This project addresses these challenges by developing an artist-friendly NPR base material system for anime-style character rendering in Unreal Engine 5 and by examining the applicability of quantitative metrics from other fields as supplementary measures for NPR quality assessment in gaming contexts.
