Blockchain is the technology that underpins Bitcoin, but there are many more applications for Blockchain, with potentially large business and societal impact. However, there is considerable hype around Blockchain.

The aim of this project is to clarify what type of applications can realistically benefit from a Blockchain implementation. Can blockchain be applied to smaller, more specific tasks? What are the characteristics of tasks that would benefit from Blockchain? Are their any existing successful deployments of Blockchain applications? What are their characteristics?
