Increasing demand and cuts in funding for social care are posing significant challenges to the sector. Artificial intelligence offers the potential to address these challenges, and build smarter, more agile, and more effective social care services that support and enhance human relationships. The Centre for Social Care and Artificial Intelligence Learning (SCALE) is a new collaboration between researchers in Computer Science, CASCADE (the Children's Social Care Research and Development Centre) and CARE (the Centre for Adult Social Care Research), which aims to investigate how AI techniques can be used to deliver better outcomes in social care.
This project will work with a researcher from CARE to investigate a proof of concept application of AI in adult social care - the exact topic will be discussed with the supervisor based on your interests. Potential areas include applications of LLMs to summarise meetings or documentation, data analysis and visualisation, better interfaces to online guidance, gamification to enhance understanding of processes, cost-effective hardware to monitor wellbeing.
