This project is in collaboration with School of Psychology, Cardiff University. Psychological studies increasingly utilise collected photos by participants to demonstrate their personal interests. While it is possible to manually label these photos for analysis, this is time-consuming. The aim of the project is to investigate transfer learning and semi-supervised learning techniques for automated image analysis, which can help significantly scale up the data annotation and analysis process. The machine learning techniques validated on real-world data can also be useful for other applications with partially labelled data.
