Supervised by Dr Daniela Tsaneva; Moderated by Frank C Langbein

The goal of this project is to develop a web portal with an integrated LLM (Large Language Model) chatbot designed to enhance Cardiff students' university learning and research experiences. The chatbot aims to assist students by providing detailed information on various aspects such as course modules, fees, lecturers, examination schedules, and submission deadlines.

Additionally, the chatbot will include an integrated translation feature that converts lecture slides and videos into students' native languages, supporting non-native speakers. This feature will be enhanced to be used as a disability assistance feature for hearing-impaired individuals, by providing video captioning services for classroom lecture videos.

This project will also include a thorough discussion on the different approaches used to create chatbots, such as NLP, LLM, and Rule-based, analysing their advantages and disadvantages, based on the effectiveness of these approaches and their impact on student experiences and outcomes.
