Pixel art is a form digital art where characters are represented using a small number of pixels. It was popular for video gaming, and still useful nowadays for various applications ranging from icons to animation. However, traditional approaches of pixel art generation are very time-consuming and require expertise. Recent work considers automatic generation of pixel art. The aim of the project is to develop a prototype system that achieves automatic generation of pixel art by implementing some recent algorithms (including recent techniques based on deep neural networks).
