Prerequisites: - Basic knowledge of Human-Computer Interaction and evaluation methods - Empathy and interest to work with people and performing qualitative user studies - Experience developing for web and/or mobile applications - Desirable experience developing immersive applications e.g., Blender, Unity, etc.

Aims of the project: Over the last decade, mobile and immersive technologies such as augmented and virtual reality have facilitated the creation of immersive experiences by for example enabling the user to interact with overlay data in real time through smartphones or the Google glasses, or by embedding the user in virtual worlds or games using a head-mounted displays (e.g. Oculus rift) recognising hand gestures, eye movements, etc. Nowadays, there are many applications ranging from simple mobile applications, to enhance physical textbooks with digital content, to more sophisticated and immersive physical-digital installations that are being created in many different domains to support work and disaster training, education, manufacturing, entertainment and arts, and more recently in healthcare, with particular focus on the training of medical professionals and rehabilitation for patients. Although these mobile and immersive technologies have demonstrated its potential in these different domains, there is limited exploration on how these technologies can support sustainability practices and the lived experience and health needs of people and their caregivers in everyday life.

The aim of this project is to explore the application of mobile and immersive technologies could play in addressing people’s (and caregivers) health needs to enhance their own lived experience managing health and wellbeing in relation to their everyday life, or explore how it can support people's sustainability practices.

The objectives are to: a) Perform a literature review of mobile and/or AR/VR application review to gather the initial requirements and help define a particular health context of use (e.g., pregnancy care, infant nutrition, self-care of older people of people with food allergies, etc.) b) Design and build a mobile, AR and/or VR application that addresses the particular health needs for selected health context c) Evaluate the strength and weaknesses of the proposed application, including gathering feedback from the potential end-users using online evaluation methods.
