Dots and Boxes is a pencil-and-paper game, of which the details are described at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dots_and_Boxes which used to be a popular pastime before the advent of smartphones. Although some online implementations do exist (such as http://www.papg.com/show?1TMU) these tend to be limited when it comes to being able to specify the board size (also, none of them seems to support non-rectangular board shapes). Also, it would be interesting to analyse under what circumstances the first player has a winning strategy. For instance, whereas noughts and crosses results in a draw when both players play their best strategy, it is not clear whether this also holds for Dots and Boxes (it may depend on the layout of the board). Also, it would be interesting to see the implementation play against some of the other online implementations.
